For some people, the freedom of pursuing their passion while being their own boss is one of the most important goals in life. However, making it happen isn’t always easy, so one way to get a head start is to learn how others have done it.
An interview with Nichole Radzely,
Founder of Doddle & Co., Montclair, NJ, USA
At what point did you realize you wanted to be an entrepreneur and your own boss?
I’ve always known since I was a little kid that I wanted to be in business, I wanted to help people, I wanted to be an expert in something and that I was special enough to do so.
I am incredibly curious about everything possible.
And what was the first thing you did to make it happen?
Attending my first trade show solidified the fact that our business idea was just as big as I had envisioned it, based on everyone’s reaction. I had believed it for months but seeing people light up when they saw me demonstrate it was the ultimate validation that my vision was actually real and obtainable.
How did you decide which idea was the one to pursue?
I tried to pursue other ideas, but none of them sprung me out of bed in the morning.
It must be worth your time, attention and sacrifice to see it through. It ignited a creative edge in me like I have never experienced.
What do you wish you knew before you started your first business?
I make mistakes and I’d have it no other way. I’ve conquered the hardest challenges that I’ve been faced with. I’ve dreamed my vision and have the privilege to run after it full speed. For me, there is simply nothing better in the world.
